DIGI-MV

The Deutsch-Israelisches Zentrum für Gesundheit und Innovation in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.V. (DIGI-MV) is an independent, non-profit centre of excellence dedicated to advancing scientific research, technological innovation and international cooperation in the service of health, security and sustainable development.

Founded in 2023, the Centre embodies a shared German-Israeli commitment to excellence in research and innovation. Its establishment was preceded by a landmark initiative launched in June 2021, when the Minister-President of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Manuela Schwesig, signed a Letter of Intent to create a German-Israeli centre for innovation. Conceived as a long-term strategic partnership, the Centre provides a platform through which leading researchers, experts, physicians, innovators and policymakers from Germany, Israel, and the international scientific community work together to address some of the most pressing challenges of the twenty-first century.

DIGI-MV is founded on the conviction that scientific progress transcends national borders. Breakthroughs in health, medicine, biotechnology, digital technologies, and security increasingly emerge at the intersection of disciplines, institutions and cultures. By fostering an environment in which outstanding expertise converges, DIGI-MV accelerates the generation of knowledge and its translation into solutions that improve lives and strengthen societies.

Our mission is to promote research while creating pathways from scientific discovery to practical application. DIGI-MV also facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration between universities, research institutes, healthcare providers, industry, public authorities and civil society. Through these partnerships, we seek to transform scientific excellence into innovations that enhance society, healthcare, stimulate economic growth, strengthen regional competitiveness, and contribute to the well-being of communities in Germany, Israel, and beyond.

While rooted in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, DIGI-MV is international in its outlook.
